Academic papers from my time at New York University, published and unpublished, across all subjects that I’ve taken so far. A lot of them are game design and classics papers!

⭐📄Learn to Die (now part of S Rank)⭐

My first published paper! An exploration of death as didactic rather than entirely interrupting of the game flow, using Elden Ring as the main example/starting point.

Originally written during Professor Charles Pratt’s Intro to Game Studies class of Fall 2022, later revised.

Now part of the “S Rank” essay collection, vol. 1 (published Fall 2023). Link to the online journal below. (vol. 2 when)

📄The Relationship Between Gods and Humans Through the Lens of Anthropomorphism

Final paper for Professor Barbara Kowalzig’s Ancient Religion class of Fall 2023. Discusses how the Greek gods are perceived by mortals in myth, and how that perception leads to/helps the idea of the “anthropomorphized god” (as opposed to the “theological god”).

📄Sacrifice (aka, “What are the strong and weak points of Vernant’s general theory of sacrifice?”)

Midterm paper for Professor Barbara Kowalzig’s Ancient Religion class of Fall 2023. A response to and analysis of J.P. Vernant’s article “A General Theory of Sacrifice.” Discusses the positives and shortcomings of Vernant’s theory of sacrifice in the light of the discovery of communities who abstained from sacrifice or other types of sacrifice altogether.
